Susan, Karl and Terese clean up the aftermath of the stink bomb in the Eirini Rising courtyard. A furious Terese demands answers from an out-of-his-depth Curtis, so Susan has to calmly intervene.
Later, Terese's frustration resurfaces when Curtis still hasn't come back to her with updates. As Susan calmly talks Terese off the warpath, Terese realises she's micromanaging again and is grateful for Susan’s counsel.
Eventually, Curtis has a breakthrough, finding the key the students used to sneak into the courtyard. Realising the key belongs to Jane, Terese is once again ablaze with anger. After Susan gently talks Terese down for the third time, an emotional Terese hugs Susan and thanks her for balancing her out – they've found their working rhythm at last.
Meanwhile, brushing off the disappointment of losing his job at the vineyard, JJ offers himself up to Terese for casual work at Eirini Rising and promises to go above board to prove himself. Toadie is bewildered when Terese considers hiring JJ, but reflecting on her own trouble-maker teenage streak, Terese leans towards giving JJ a chance.
Later, JJ reports to Nell that he might be working right next door to her school soon. Though she's keeping her crush under wraps, Nell can't hide her excitement at the prospect and it's clear JJ is keen on the idea too.
When Nell goes into bat for JJ, savvy Terese calls out her true motivations and worries Nell might be distracted at school. However, Nell promises to be an angel and begs Terese to give JJ a chance. Soon after, an overjoyed JJ reports to his mums that he's the newest Eirini Rising Residents' Assistant and echoes Nell's vows to behave himself. But will they stay true to their word?
Elsewhere, Nicolette, Byron and Vic head off for their day trip, but Nicolette urges Vic not to push himself too hard. Jane is still torn about not joining them and finally makes a snap decision to leave work early. Jane arrives but is unsure which track her family have chosen for their hike, so she picks one at random and hopes for the best.
Later, Byron and Nicolette escort a breathless Vic back to the carpark. Vic is embarrassed that his body isn't up to the hike but brightens when he spots Jane's car, realising she has come after all.
When Byron is unable to contact Jane, Vic worries at the idea of Jane being out in the labyrinth of trails on her own. Byron and Nicolette head out to look for their mum, firmly ordering Vic to wait at the carpark. However, Vic disobeys their orders and heads off.
Stumbling through the forest, he begins to feel tired and breathless again. He considers turning back but then catches sight of Jane's sunhat caught in the brush beside the path. With his worry for Jane increasing, an exhausted Vic forces himself onwards, but soon it's all too much.

Haz has taken back the reins of Harold's and he thanks Mackenzie for all her help in keeping it alive. They note that their relationship has felt a little formal since reuniting, but when Haz mentions planning a trip back to WA to visit his family, he invites Mackenzie along and she excitedly accepts.
Mackenzie reflects on the positive upswing in the share house and suggests a party to celebrate. It all deflates, however, when Leo has to break the news that he may have to sell the share house to stay afloat. Are these friends about to lose their home?
Meanwhile, Byron and Nicolette have found Jane on one of the tracks, and together they discover Vic lying on the ground. He's conscious, but unwell.
Later in hospital, they discover that Vic is going to be okay for the time being, but it's Jane who's thrown when she confesses to Terese that she felt a pull to care for Vic.

Leo gets a valuation on the share house. It's not worth as much as he'd like, but it should cover the immediate financial distress.
Krista reports the bad news to her housemates. Mackenzie and Haz privately suggest that Krista could buy the house, but they agree it's too awkward for a housemate to also be a landlord, and so they will start looking at other rentals.
When they realise how dire the rental market is, however, they cave and ask Krista if maybe she'd be interested in buying. Krista is delighted by the idea, wishing she'd thought of it, and offers the idea as a solution to Leo. But Leo once again refuses the handout, leaving Krista frustrated by his stubbornness.
When Krista informs the housemates it's a no-go, Holly decides to take matters into her own hands, announcing that she's going to figure out the identity of the poisoner herself.
Meanwhile, Nell visits Dex, but more as an excuse to see if JJ was there with him. He's not, but she stays to draw more of the 'Dex-Truction' character with Dex, who's delighted that his crush has come to hang out.
Nell comes back the next day when JJ is there, and they're both excited to see each other. She brings Dex another sketch, igniting the love triangle even more.
Remi notices Gavin Bowman looking at Dex's file, despite no longer being his physician, and warns him off. She reports the incident to Stevie Hart. After a reprimand, Gavin confronts Remi, claiming his remarks were merely locker-room banter.
Remi reports the remarks to Stevie, who is sympathetic to Remi. She does however reveal that Gavin has a new theory about Dex's poisoning that might be worth hearing out.
Remi relays this dilemma to Cara and they ponder if they should accept Gavin's obnoxious assistance for Dex's sake, no matter how galling it might be.
Later, Andrew informs Leo that there's been another poisoning. How will this affect Leo?

With Shannon in custody, Leo takes in the revelation she couldn't be the culprit. Despite the poisonings no longer being connected solely to the vineyard, Leo can't see business ramping up again quickly and realises he'll have to sell Number 32.
He's further defeated when Krista reports a string of wine tour cancellations from Lassiters, until Krista blurts out that because the cancellations are last minute, Leo will still get his fee.
Later, Holly lets slip that she has been processing refunds and Leo unloads on Krista for treating him like a charity case.
Krista hands Holly an official warning for using her job to try and bribe Liv. Keen to make things right for Leo, Holly is determined to solve who the poisoner is. However, when Krista catches Holly trying to get intel from Shannon, she warns Holly to cut her investigation antics and focus on her job instead.
Meanwhile, Remi resolves to tag-team with Gavin to crack the poison cases, refusing to let him get under her skin. When Gavin discovers the poison that was used, the Varga-Murphys are overjoyed as Dex can now be treated. When Dex thanks his Ma, Remi gives Gavin the credit.
