Dr Michael Mosley’s body has been found just metres from safety on the Greek island of Symi following a major five-day search for the missing TV doctor.
Tributes have been flooding in after officials said the 67-year-old’s body was discovered in a rocky area close to Agia Marina beach on Sunday.
The TV star was last seen leaving Saint Nikolas beach at around 1.30pm on Wednesday, setting off for a coastal walk in searing heat without his mobile phone.
Police launched an extensive search after his wife reported him missing later that day. Five days later, a body was found near a cave complex known to locals as “the abyss”.
Dr Mosley’s wife Dr Clare Bailey Mosley confirmed his death, paying tribute to her “wonderful, funny, kind and brilliant” husband.
She added: “We're taking comfort in the fact that he so very nearly made it. He did an incredible climb, took the wrong route and collapsed where he couldn't be easily seen by the extensive search team. Michael was an adventurous man, it's part of what made him so special.”
how very sad rip
