Monday
At the hospital, tensions are fraught between Mackenzie and Mali. Mackenzie still can't move past Mali's involvement in Levi's stabbing, especially not while Levi is still fighting for his life.
When Mali checks for missed calls from Iluka, Mac snaps and declares that she doesn't want to hear about his "stupid brother". Bree checks on the patient and Dana updates her, explaining that he's hypertensive. She orders a chest drain, and before long Levi is cracking jokes with his medical team. Bree tells Mackenzie that it's looking positive.
At Levi's bedside, Mali admits to Mackenzie that he hasn't told Rose anything. He's determined to find where the Allens have taken his brother and sort it himself. He's got no leads on Iluka, though. When Bree queries whether he should be talking to the police, he shuts her down.
Finally, when Rose is taking Levi's statement, Mali interrupts to ask Mac for a favour – he needs her to downplay Iluka's involvement with the Allens when she talks to the police. Initially she's furious, but when Mali asks how she'd feel if it was her own brother, she takes pause.
Mackenzie is weighing the options with Levi later when suddenly, his monitor sounds as he tenses. Mackenzie's terrified and calls out for help – will Levi be okay?
Meanwhile, Leah and Irene remain at loggerheads over Bronte's lawsuit. Leah can't believe her partner would go behind her back like this, but Irene remains singularly focused on helping to save Bronte's life.
When Leah tells Dana that the insurance company won't pay out their claim, she suggests they ask Bronte not to sue them, but Irene's not having it. Later, Dana issues Irene a warning – she could lose her friendship with Leah over this. Will Irene be able to course-correct their partnership?
Tuesday
Harper agrees to look over Tane's youth programme proposal before he shows it to John. He's grateful for her expertise, but she's privately struggling with her feelings for him and tries to back out at one point.
Ultimately, Harper relents and continues to help her friend, but when Tane talks business later, her mind is drawn back to their steamy encounter at the gym.
When John rejects the proposal, a disappointed Tane reports back to Harper and looks set to drag her back onto the project when she's suddenly overwhelmed. She warns him that she can't do this and she's pulling out.
Meanwhile, Levi's in danger at the hospital and Mackenzie is on edge as Bree takes him into theatre. When Rose arrives hoping to get a statement from her, she breaks down and inadvertently reveals that Mali is the one who got them into this mess.
Feeling that she needs to know, Mackenzie calls Cash to alert Eden that her brother is in hospital, and she reluctantly turns up. Watching he and Mackenzie from afar, she's content just to know that Levi's being cared for. She tells Cash that she doesn't need to go in..
Rose tells Mackenzie and a recovering Levi that she needs to know the truth about what happened, regardless of how Mali and Iluka are involved. Mac has Mali's request to keep quiet on her mind when she reluctantly offers up the identities of the Allens. Levi adds that they took Iluka. Will Rose be able to bring back Mali's brother?
Elsewhere, Cash is tiring of unemployed life and admits to Eden that he needs to find something to do. When he runs into Rose at the hospital and Harper later at the surf club, he's reminded by each of his time in the police, and by the end of the day he has made a decision to rejoin the force.
Wednesday
Tane can't understand why Harper wants to withdraw from the youth program, but she quickly lets him in on the core of her issue – they slept together, and he's acting like it meant nothing. Tane expresses confusion, reminding Harper that she made it clear she didn't have feelings for him. Regardless, it's clear now her feelings have changed. Later, Harper bemoans the loss of her friendship to Irene – she admits that she should never have let it get so complicated.
The next day, Harper and Tane have an honest chat and she asks for space while she deals with her feelings, but her parting advice is to not give up on the proposal – he must fight for it. Tane does just that when he confronts John later. He warns that he'll bypass John and go straight to the committee himself if he has to. He's going to make this happen with or without John's support.
Meanwhile, following their recent tension, and now fearing for their friendship, Irene issues a genuine apology to Leah. She accepts, and they hug it out – she promises that they'll find a way forward.
They're together when they receive the results of the health and safety report associated with their insurance claim, and it's not good news – they're at fault. This means they're liable to pay the full costs if the lawsuits aimed against them are successful.
Elsewhere, Kirby's fed up with Eden and Remi's lax attitude to employment – she's working herself to the bone while they sit around doing nothing. They protest, but she doubles down – her savings are drying up, so it's time to get jobs.
At that moment, the power goes out and Kirby demands to know who didn't pay the bill. Remi's the culprit, but Eden is beginning to see the value in Kirby's point, and she asks Felicity if the job at Salt is still going. Felicity's happy to have her, but what about Mac?
Eden swallows her pride – conceding that it's not her fault she fell in love with the wrong guy. Could she be starting to thaw towards Mackenzie after all?
Thursday
Mali has called in big sister Elandra to help track down their missing brother, and she reports that she's on her way. Both siblings are worried sick, though, and the cracks are showing. On arrival, Elandra tells him that the Allens' house has been dark for days, and Mali frets for Iluka's future given the family's brutal stabbing of Levi.
Away from the Bay, the Allens drop a beaten Iluka by the side of the road, where Theo finds him left for dead. He takes him back to his siblings, who are washed with relief.
Iluka refuses to seek medical attention, but when he coughs up blood, Elandra instructs Mali to call an ambulance. As he's wheeled out by paramedics, Mali bristles with anger – he insists that the Allens can't get away with this and they have to pay.
Meanwhile, Dana's suspicions over Bronte are piqued again when she sees her dancing along to a busking Remi – hardly the actions of someone who's terminally ill. She and Xander clash again over her cynical stance, and Xander hopes she'll be persuaded when he shows her the now-working link to the clinical trial website on Bronte's fundraiser. Dana holds firm though, and she's disgusted to hear of Felicity's plan to make further donations to the crowdfunder.
Fearing for the future of the Diner, Leah has attempted to convince Joseph to drop his lawsuit, and Irene intends on doing the same with Bronte. She's relieved when her houseguest agrees to withdraw the legal action, but Bronte once again puts on a bold performance when she pretends to prepare for death, and Irene soon changes her mind again.
A relieved Leah reports later that Joseph has withdrawn his claim, and Dana is horrified when Irene tells her that Bronte has not, and that she's merely letting Leah think their legal troubles are resolved. Can Dana expose Bronte's lies before it's too late to help Irene?
Friday
Bree checks over a badly beaten Iluka, while Mali and Elandra face an anxious wait. When she rightly guesses that he has been assaulted, she appeals to Mali to confide in Rose, but he's resolute when he insists on having no cops. When he does get the Allens on the phone, he's angry and challenges them to meet him face-to-face. He's determined to settle things himself.
Elandra pleads with Mali not to attend the meeting, but there's no changing his mind. Mali then gets on the phone to Dean, telling him that he needs a favour. Soon Mali's being picked up by two unfamiliar River Boys, and heading into combat.
Rose confides in Kirby that Mali isn't speaking to her at all and she knows he and Iluka are mixed up in something sinister. From his hospital bed, Iluka warns Elandra that they need to stay as far away from that family as possible. Soon, Rose receives a call from Elandra and is shocked by what she hears.
Mali is locked in hand-to-hand conduct with Gordie Allen, under the watchful eye of Dean's River Boy mates, when Nat Allen retrieves a knife from her pocket. Before things can turn dark though, a siren wails and Rose rushes to break up the vicious fight. She is struck by witnessing Mali's rage and is sad when she confides in Xander later – she has never seen him like this.
Mali rages at Elandra for calling the police, and she vows to stay until both of her brothers are on the right path. She admits that she doesn't trust what they're going to do next.
Meanwhile, Xander is mortified when Dana again confronts Bronte with her suspicions – she's swindling Irene, and now she's trying to double dip with the Salt fundraiser. It's heated, and Xander takes a hard line when defending Bronte to his girlfriend.
Dana's scanning the dodgy crowdfunder link when she spots Bronte, and challenges her again, prompting the con woman to call her co-conspirator and admit that they have a problem. How far will she go to silence Dana?
